Ivory Coast native and
master dancer Mamadou Dahoué shares West African dance traditions.
Director of the Polish American Folk Dance Company, Daniel Dziadura
teaches Polish dances, including the krakowiak, the mazur, and the polka.
Leonardo Iván Dominguez teaches merenge, bachata and other traditional
Dominican dances and Don Coy and his wife Dot, American square dance
instructors, feature master calling by Don working with the AL’e’MO
Squares Dance Club.

A tango, waltz and polka evoke memories of a cabaret in pre-World War
I Warsaw.

Dances from Opoczno
Polka Tramblanka and Oberek Opoczynski danced in the vivid striped
wool costumes of central Poland.
Polonaise
Stately promenade performed by the Company’s Children’s Group,
followed by the adult Company.
Mazur from Straszny Dwór
Fiery mazurka performed to the music of Satnislaw Moniuszko’s classic
opera.

Krakowiak
Poland’s famous national dance performed by the children and the
adults. The syncopated
rhythm is reminiscent of riders on horseback.

Krakowiak Polish Dancers
Trojak, meaning "three," is one of the best-known dances in Polish folklore.
It’s a flirtatious dance between two girls trying to win the heart of one boy.

Podhale Folk Dance Company
Two of Poland’s finest national dances, the "Pożegnanie Ojczyzny" polonaise,
followed by "Biały Mazur." Choreography: R. Schmidt. Composers: Ogiński and
Osmański.

Stately promenade performed by the nobility of Poland and later gaining
popularity in the courts of Europe

A dance from the Czech border town of Cieszyn. Adopted by the Poles, the

Located in the western part of Poland, the region is known for its equestrian
past. After a long day in the stables, the handsome men come out to court the

to powerful music, the aristocrats turned this simple dance into a regal

The Green and White Forests of this region are home to ancient melodies and
dances that are unique to this region, such as olender and powolniak.

The ancient capital of Poland, Krakow, is the setting for this rendition of the
invasion of Poland by Tatars in the XII century. Choreography: R. Schmidt and L.
