2/6 - 2/7 27th Annual International
Polonaise Ball
The
Polish American Folk Dance Company was honored to have performed for Lady Blanka
Rosenstiel, founder of The American Institute of Polish Culture, and other honored guests
at the 27th Annual International Polonaise Ball in Miami, FL February
6-7, 1999. The Company performed a traditional Japanese dance, Hanagasa Odori, in keeping
with the theme of honoring Japan, A Country in Love with Chopin's Music. The dance company
trained with Momo Suzuki, a noted Japanese choreographer and learned such traditions as
the art of wearing a Japanese kimono. PAFDC also performed a suite of Chopin melodies,
including a mazurka, waltz and polonaise as well as Poland's lively national dance, the
krakowiak.
